Legislative Update 3/17/25
The next two weeks will be very busy for us as the bills that made transmittal are being scheduled for hearings in bunches.
This Week
We have a host of hearings on bills we mostly support.
HB 520: Revise laws to clarify that local prohibitions on conveying family transfer parcels do not apply to conveyances involving lenders
Addresses some limitations created by the two-year waiting period for lenders. It does not change the standard or create loopholes.
(S) Local Gov – 3/17/25, 3:00 PM, Room 405
Support
SB 275: Allow revocation of agricultural covenant on lands annexed into a municipality
The title says it all.
(H) Judiciary – 3/18/25, 8:00 AM, Room 137
Support
SB 252: Revise land use laws related to manufactured and factory-built homes
Requires zoning codes to treat manufactured homes the same as other residential uses in the same district.
(H) Local Gov – 3/20/25, 3:00 PM, Room 472
Support
SB 243: Amend zoning regulations to allow taller buildings
We really don’t like bills that attempt to create a statewide zoning code. We are opposed, but this isn’t one of our top priorities.
(H) Local Gov – 3/20/25, 3:00 PM, Room 472
Opposed
SB 121: Revise the Land Use and Planning Act
A cleanup bill from last session. Will we see any amendments attempting to address the MAID case? Maybe.
(H) Local Gov – 3/20/25, 3:00 PM, Room 472
Support
Up Next Week (So Far)
