Mark Rud
Mark is the Assistant Planner with the City of Hamilton, where he shares a range of current and long-
range planning duties. His professional passion is at the intersection of sustainable growth and
community vitality in the rural West. Prior to public sector planning he trained in the performing arts,
and was raised across the U.S. from New Hampshire to Hawaii (and much in between) in a military
family. He hopes to bring his small-town and early career perspectives to MAP’s evolution as an APA
Chapter. Mark holds a M.S. in Bioregional Planning and Community Design from the University of Idaho
and undergraduate degrees from Pacific Lutheran University. He is also a board member with the
Hamilton Downtown Association, and regularly volunteers with Bitterroot Valley nonprofits –
particularly at events with music and snacks.
