City of Bozeman
The principal function of an employee in this class is to apply professional standards to planning, administration, coordination, research and implementation of neighborhood plans, business development, housing, and urban development. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of the Planning and Community Development Director, but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. This class is distinguished from the class of Planner I by additional work experience and by the performance of a wide variety of more complex planning duties, including completing minor projects autonomously. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Planning and Community Development Director, other City employees, Municipal, State and Federal officials, representatives of neighborhood organizations, business and community organizations and the public. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.
