About this Position The Community MT Division plans for high quality growth and invests in transformational community development to facilitate vibrant and sustainable community across Montana. The division helps communities implement projects related to community planning, public infrastructure and facilities, downtown revitalization, and historic preservation. The Community Planner is responsible for leading the Community Technical Assistance Program (CTAP), which assists local governments with community planning and development. This position will provide direct technical assistance to communities, develop and maintain model documents and training materials, maintain a database of local land use policies and regulations, conduct trainings, manage contracts with consultants, track and analyze land use bills during the legislative session, and develop a strategy to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of CTAP. What are we looking for? Education and Experience: · A Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field · Certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners or ability to become certified within three years · 4+ years of job-related experience with a minimum of 2 years as a local government planner · Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
